Thieves cut through locks but thwarted by pet dogs; Crimewatch TURNING the spotlight on crime in the Holme Valley. The column is compiled with the co-operation of Neighbourhood Watch Liaison:


* ATTEMPTED BURGLARY -Holmbridge, Oct 9. Snapped europrofile lock on front upvc door in attempt to gain entry but disturbed by complainants' dogs barking.


Holmfirth, Oct 11. Broke door panels from brick-built garage, gained entry into the garage and removed black quad bike from within. New Mill, Oct 7. Forced lock on shed in rear garden to gain entry and steal black off-road motorcycle. New Mill, Oct 10. Forced padlock from metal shed door in rear garden. Cut through security chain on rear wheel of a motorcycle. Stole the purple Kawasaki XZR 400 registration N163 WRJ. Sita Waste Disposal, Bent Ley Road, Meltham, Oct 12. Caused damage to perimeter fencing on yard of commercial premises then cut hole in side of mesh cage and stole assorted household items. Meltham, Oct 9. Stole green wheelie bin from driveway. Meltham, Oct 11. Entered site over rear fence and stole compressor bagging hose. New Mill, Oct 8. Gained entry to house roof and stole Yorkshire stone slates. Placed slates in wheelie bin before making off, discarding them at scene."We are particularly proud to offer this exciting initiative on our Gissing townhouse.THEFT - Grange Moor, Oct 2. Stole unattended electric unit and battery used for security of horses in field. Naylor Myers Ltd, Wakefield Road, Denby Dale, Oct 4. Entered builders merchant's yard and stole black and yellow plastic buckets. Scissett, Oct 3. Entered site by unclipping mesh fencing, then turned off water supply before stealing the standpipe. Shepley, Sep 30. Stole coping stones from garden wall.New Mill, Oct 8. Attempted to force window of detached garage causing damage to glass and frame. Then cut through hasp and bolt to door but no entry gained and nothing stolen. New Mill, Oct 8. Snapped two locks on shed door causing damage and activated the alarm. No entry gained and no property stolen. * BURGLARY - Brockholes, Oct 12. Forced ground floor rear window and climbed through. Electrical items stolen. Helme Village, Oct 6. Entered insecure shed at farm. Used tools to cut and remove electrical wires from fuse box and electric meter. Suspects were disturbed and made off on foot. Suspects: two white males, one with round face, other with gaunt face, both wearing hoodies and jeans.* CRIMINAL DAMAGE - Holmbridge, Oct 6. Cut down lavender bush in garden. Honley C Of E Junior School, Jaggar Lane, Oct 7. Smashed double glazed window at school.CRIMINAL DAMAGE - Grange Moor, Sep 30. Snipped through mesh fencing on farmland, causing damage. Motorbike tracks seen near to damaged fencing. Shelley, Oct 2. Drove motorbike over front lawn causing extensive damage. Known youths being sought. Spectrum Interiors, Northgate, Almondbury, Oct 5. Damaged a single glazed window. Highburton, Sep 30. Smashed patio window at rear of house. Lepton, Oct 8. Used spray paint to graffiti front living room window of house.
