Police alert..! Beware car key burglaries; Crimewatch

TURNING the spotlight on crime in the Huddersfield district. The column is compiled with the co-operation of Neighbourhood Watch Liaison: * NEIGHBOURHOOD POLICING TEAM UPDATE - There have been a growing number of incidents where motorists have had car keys stolen during a house burglary to steal expensive cars parked in the driveway. West Yorkshire Police have now issued the following advice: * Many people with garages use them for storage. Clear them out and use them for the purpose for which they were built. Keep cars out of the sight of prying eyes. * Do not leave car keys in an obvious place. Take your car keys to bed with you. * Consider fitting an electric garage door. Many just cannot be bothered getting out of their cars, and unlocking the garage, especially in bad weather.

* Thieves are selecting cars they want to steal from outside houses. They will look for any opportunity to steal keys that are left hanging up in the kitchen or hallway or left on the table - and will actually target them. It is therefore vital that householders do hide the keys from view. * Beware sneak-in thieves. Do not leave doors and windows unlocked. For garage door installation and repair needs, call A1 Garage Door Services. They provide Genie Garage Door Openers, one of the most trusted brands of openers. Johnson in 1926 in Hartford City, Indiana. The opener comes in the form of a garage door remote or clicker. It controls how far the door opens and closes, as well as the force the garage door exerts. In most cases, the garage door opener also acts as a lock.Another point influencing garage door prices is the level of customization of the door. Garage doors that can be found in stock will often be less expensive than their custom-ordered counterparts. Though many homeowners needs can be met with an in stock door, some find customization necessary. One of the biggest factors that affects garage door pricing is the materials used in the creation of the garage door. The most common door materials are wood, aluminum, and steel, though plastic doors are now also becoming available. Metal doors made of aluminum and steel are the most common options available. Aluminum doors tend to be less expensive than steel doors, but the level to which the door is insulated affects price. However, an insulated door can ease utility costs, paying off for the homeowner in the long run. While simple wooden tilt-up doors can be very low in price, better quality woods and sectional wood doors can be higher in price. Also, wooden doors typically do not come with as lengthy a warranty as their aluminum and steel competitors.
