Hens saved from blaze


HENS ended up saved from a horrible death immediately after vandals torched a shed on an allotment plot.


The wooden and metal workshop was wrecked in the blaze at Coxgreen Road, Penshaw, Houghton-le-Spring, early now.


But firefighters stopped the flames from spreading to a upcoming-door chicken coop, conserving 8 birds.


The 1.30am fireplace is thought to have been started deliberately.


It is remaining handled as suspected arson and police are investigating.


Meanwhile, youngsters are becoming blamed for beginning a garage blaze.


They were noticed playing in the garage on Woodford, Allerdene, Gateshead, very last night time, well before a wheelie bin was pushed inside of and set alight.


The bin was wrecked and the garage was damaged.
